All the previous rests are hboxes; this means that they
can be vertically offset to meet polyphonic music requirements using the
standard TEX command

In addition, two symbols have been provided to put a full rest or a
half rest aboce or below the staff. Then the ordinary \pause or
\hpause cannot be used since there is a need for small horizontal line
to distinguish between the full and the half rest. They are :
